Millennials are broke… because they have it backwards

Nathan Edwards, Founder,
CEO, Advanage Diversified

Conventional wisdom says the path to economic success and away from poverty is to do things in order: 1) Earn at least a high school diploma, 2) get a full-time job, and 3) marry before having kids.

However, according to a Brookings Institute recent report, “More than half (53 percent) of millennials who didn’t follow the sequence are in poverty.  On the flip side, only three percent of millennials who followed all three steps, are poor by the time they reach their late 20s or early 30s.”

One reason is that the hiring climate, even for the college educated, has been poor, and people’s incomes are stagnant.   That’s certainly not the case for millennials (or people of any age) who come to work for Advanage Diversified Products, Inc.
